Rainbow Forge ECO-Space Project

Diary

Today on the 16th June 2009 the path was cut through from Beighton Road to Birley Spa Lane.

On Saturday the 5th September 2009 volunteers from Beighton Falcons and Owlthorpe Community Forum and  pupils from the school did a litter pick on the fields and in the Eco-Space.

As from the 8th of September 2009 we have started to fill in the gaps in the Hawthorn Hedge around the School field first with branches from the old Hawthorn bushes we have trimmed up and in a few weeks new hedging will be planted in these areas.

On the 10th of February 2010 we will be installing a fence and five bar gate also a k frame on the Birley Moor Road side of the ECO-Space. Thanks to the help off Sheffield Landscape Trust, Owlthorpe Community Forum. We will be wanting volunteers from the local community to help scrub clearing. If you are interested please see Mr Paul Allinson at the school.

The school will be tackling the wild area which is on the school grounds at the bottom of the school playing fields.

including creating a path through it leading on to Beighton Road / thinning out all the saplings / installing dog bins and litter bins /creating a nice seating area for the community and the school to use / re-instating the pond .

Volunteers from the community are needed to work along side other organisations that will  hopefully be involved.

The schools ground maintenance team will be going in soon to create the path by trimming an area about a metre wide all the way through and also cutting a way through the trees and hedges on Beighton Road side. all the cuttings from the trees will be used to block the gaps in the hedge on the school field side.

Our ECO-WARRIORS will be doing some signs to encourage people to use the area when the path has been created. Please respect our children's hard work in this by not pulling the signs down.

Involved in the project will be our own ECO-WARRIORS / OWLTHORPE COMMUNITY FORUM / HACKENTHORPE TARA
